The OBD2 diagnostic port is under the dash on the driver side.
while sitting in the drivers seat it is under the dash board near R leg for OBD reader
there is not one. only on 1996 and later model vehicles. it can be diagnosed from the check engine light. if you have a haynes book it will tell you how.

To my knowledge there should not be a diagnostic link on a 79'. most of the d100 trucks have a diagnostic port on the drivers side inner fender

The OBDII diagnostic port is under the dash to the right of the steering column.
It is the port, where a diagnostic machine can be hooked up. The diagnostic will read codes from your vehicles computer. For instance if your check engine light comes on, you can plug the diagnostic machine into the data port and it will tell you why the check engine light came on so that you can get it fixed.
Under the hood, center of the firewall. It is a black "L" shaped connecter.
