When facing the front of the Mercury Mountaineer, the drain plug is on the lower left of the radiator. Place a bucket under the drain plug spigot before loosening to catch the coolant. To empty the radiator, turn the drain plug three-quarters of a turn. Tighten the drain plug before re-filling with coolant.

The radiator drain plug on a 1992 Mercury Topaz is typically located at the bottom of the radiator. It may be a plastic petcock valve that you can twist open to drain the coolant from the radiator. Be sure to place a drain pan underneath to catch the coolant.
On a 2008 Mercury Mountaineer, the oil drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan, towards the rear of the vehicle. It is typically a hex or square-shaped plug that can be accessed from underneath the vehicle. Make sure to use the appropriate tools to avoid stripping the plug when removing it.
The radiator drain plug is at the passenger side rear of the radiator at the very bottom corner. There are two drain plugs in the block, they are very difficult to get at, and usually not necessary.
