i need to replace the starter on my focus. ihave located it under the intake manifold next to the firewall. I need to remove it and wonder how to reach it. If you have changed yours let me know how it went. Bill bbeckham@intergate.com

The starter is located under the intake manifold, above the exhaust, and is a real pain to get out.
The upper two bolts come out towards the transmission. Remove the airbox and the Plumbing to the throttle body. I also loosened the intake manifold so I could get a little more room. The lower bolt comes out towards the engine. You'll need a six inch extension to reach it from the passenger side of the exhaust pipe. The loose starter comes out towards the passenger side. What a drag.
