The sump nut is on the sump or oil pan of your VW. if you jack up your car and climb underneath it from the front you'll see the sump nut on the lowest point of the engine pointing towards the back of the car and slightly down. Don't undo the sump nut/ plug with the engine warm/hot, the oil in the sump will also be hot and can scold you.

if it is what i think it is there is a nut that you put a bolt in that pulls the sump down
Prise off the cap on the end of the hub and undo the exposed nut. Be careful as this is a high torque nut which will require considerable force to remove and refit. You can then pull the drum off which will require some patience as they tend to get stuck due to rust.
Remove nut from bottom of sump.
To remove the sump nut on a Ford Mondeo, first ensure the vehicle is securely lifted and supported, and drain the oil into a container. Use a suitable socket or wrench to loosen the sump nut, turning it counterclockwise. If it's stuck, you may apply penetrating oil and allow it to soak for a bit. Once loose, carefully remove the nut and the washer, ensuring you have a new washer ready for reassembly.
The nut used on the rear hub is a locking nut. With some muscle it will back off. It is advised not to reuse that nut.
