The "sensor" is in the above stated location, but it only provides information to the computer. You asked about the temperature GAUGE sensor (actually a sending unit), which on a 2.3l is screwed into the driver's side of the block, all the way toward the back. From above, you may be able to see a sensor, but that is the oil psi sending unit. the coolant tamp sending unit is located below that and is pretty much impossible to see from above, much less change. Do it from below, and drain the coolant first, or do it super quick to avoid a face full of antifreeze. good luck, and remember to use Teflon tape.
PS- the sending unit is screwed into the block, not the oil pan, that's the oil level sending unit.
on the intake manifold on the driverside.
2.3
There are either two or three wires on a water temperature sensor for a 2000 Ford Ranger 4.0.
Which engine do you have?
yes it has both. at least in my 1991 ford ranger does
On the front of the intake manifold
should be by balancer
It doesn't have a knock sensor on the 4.0 L OHV in a 1993 Ranger ( my 1995 Ford Explorer 4.0 L OHV engine doesn't have a knock sensor either )
From Haynes Repair Manual #36071, 1993-2005 Ford Ranger Pick-ups: All 2.5L engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 thru 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. Models following those years do not have an AIT sensor. If your vehicle is equipped with an AIT sensor, the sensor is located inside the air intake duct between the air cleaner housing and the throttle body.
From Haynes Repair Manual for Ford Ranger Pickups 1993 - 2005: "All 2.5 engines, 3.0L and 4.0L 1993 through 1999 and 2.3L engines 1993 through 1997 utilize an IAT sensor. Models following these years do not have an IAT sensor". Hope this answers your question. Good luck. ANSWER www.motorcraft.com shows an air charge temperature sensor for the 4.0 L SOHC ( only ) , on the 2003 Ranger . I'm assuming it is in the big rubber air intake tube. P.S. I also noticed that there is a manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor listed for the 2.3 L engine in a 2003 Ford Ranger
can you use a transmission from a 1993 ford ranger in a 2000 ford ranger?
There are 2 heated exhaust gas oxygen sensors , 1 screwed into the outlet on each exhaust manifold on a 1993 Ford Ranger 4.0 L .
