yes it has both. at least in my 1991 Ford Ranger does
There are either two or three wires on a water temperature sensor for a 2000 Ford Ranger 4.0.
Where is the water temperature sender 1995 ford ranger 2.3?In: Ford [ranger]
The water temperature sensor and sending unit are next to eachother. On the passenger side of the vehicle, close to the firewall you will see the power steering fluid reservoir. The larger hoses run down next to the engine. The coolant temperature sensor and sending unit are mounted on the side of the engine, under the ERG valve. There is a 2 bolt heat sheild on one side of them.
..... sense water temperature?
1. Water temperature sensor Intake air temperature sensor cylinder head temperature sensor exhaus temperature sensor and catalytic sensor
The coolant temperature sending sensor on 1.9L & 2.0L engines (on '96 and earlier) are located on a cooling tube or into the themostat housing (usual position).
yes on the 97 2.3 it is in the water hose after the water pump there are 2 sensors one in the metal pipe for the computer and one in the hose for the temp gauge.
Under hood, center, front engine area, above water outlet, mounted in intake manifold got this off the Autozone website hope this is what you wanted and it helps out mike The "sensor" is in the above stated location, but it only provides information to the computer. You asked about the temperature GAUGE sensor (actually a sending unit), which on a 2.3l is screwed into the driver's side of the block, all the way toward the back. From above, you may be able to see a sensor, but that is the oil psi sending unit. the coolant tamp sending unit is located below that and is pretty much impossible to see from above, much less change. Do it from below, and drain the coolant first, or do it super quick to avoid a face full of antifreeze. good luck, and remember to use teflon tape. PS- the sending unit is screwed into the block, not the oil pan, that's the oil level sending unit.
If you mean where is the temperature sending sensor it is in the water outlet housing next to the thermostat. There are 2 sensors for the engine temperature. One for the computer which controls the radiator fan and one for the gauge on the dash.
Follow the top radiator hose to the engine. Where the hose is attached to the engine is the thermostat housing. On the left side of the housing, is the Coolant temperature sending unit to the gauge, and on the right side, there is EEC-IV coolant temperature sending unit to the computer. ( when you are standing at the front of the vehicle )
The Temperature sensor for the computer is on top the head. The temperature sensor for the temperature gauge is located under the Thermostat housing.
The water temp sender is screwed into your intake manifold. On the stock manifold it was at the front of the manifold so it should be easy to see, and it should have one wire connected to the sensor.
