Open the hood and follow the top right radiator hose back to the top of the engine. You will see a round housing that the hose connects to. The thermostat is under that housing. To replace the thermostat without draining the coolant out of the engine, disconnect the hose from the housing and hold it up so that it is higher than the radiator. Take the two bolts out of the thermostat housing, you will probably have to pry it lose from the engine. Remove the old thermostat, replace with new one, reinstall everything. No new gasket is required as the new thermostat should have an "O" ring around it. You will lose some coolant in the process, but you can easily add more to the overflow container on the passenger side of the firewall. Do all of this when the engine is cold. Its not that hard to do, as I did it!
Follow the upper radiator hose bacx to where it goes into the top of the motor. The flange there houses the thermostat.
That would be a 4L60E.
