It will not be a "switch" per se` as one normally pictures a switch. It is actually a sensor, and will usually be mounted on the throttle body. It acts as a sort of reostat, and sends voltge readings to the ecm computer. The voltage will vary higher and lower as the position of the linkage or accelerator changes from closed at idle to wide open throttle. On the majority of vehicles, it will be located very near the end of the linkacge or cable that is connected from the gas pedal to the engine. The easiest way to find if you are not sure what you are looking at, is to have someone depress the gas pedal as you watch in the engine compartment to see what parts are moved as the pedal is pressed to the floor then released. Most of the Throttle Position Sensors or "PTS" are mounted on with 2 or 3 bolts or rivets. Some are adjustable and some are not. Tey usually have a plastic snap in connector on them, and usually have 2 or 3 wires in the connector. When you locate and remove it, it would be a good idea to put some type of reference mark on it and around it for alignment purposes, just in case it is an adjustable type TPS. Normally if you place the marks on and it is an adjustable sensor, when you line up the marks and tighten the bolts, you shouldn't need any other adjustments or tools. They are usually a fast and simple change out. You can also try going online to a parts supplier, such as www.autozone.com. You can register as a user for free, and then put in the vehicle year make and model and engine size. After you do that, you will get a menue option called something like "part locations, and it will be more specific to your vehicle. Your best bet all around would be to invest 18$ on a Haynes Repair manual that is very vehicle specific for your make and model and has a lot of good pictures to guide you. I buy one for every vehicle I ever own since I do all of my own repairs. Hope this all helps and good luck!
