The Transmission Fluid must be checked at a dealership (or independent that has the "special tool"), supposedly to keep people from overfilling the tranny which could cause damage and/or perfomance problems. The dealer will access/measure the fuid level through the tube with a cap that says "for dealer use only", located near the firewall, left of center.
