A lot of newer transmissions do not have dipsticks or fill tubes (I don't know of a transmission with an overflow tube). The transmissions are considered sealed units and are not serviceable...at least not by you or me. Talk to your dealer.

It is important to keep fluids from leaking from a car. Excessive transmission fluid would be coming out of the overflow because there is too much fluid in the transmission, or because the seal has become worn.

How do you change the transmission fluid in a 96 jetta?

If you have the 01M Transmission, you can remove the level checking plug from rear of trans oil pan. There is a overflow tube inside the plug hole, remove the overflow tube from inside the plug hole. Let ATF fluid drain. re-install the overflow tube. The filler tube is located above the front of oil pan and has a plastic cap.Pry the plastic cap off with a screwdriver, removing plug from the filler pipe. Refill 3.2 Qts., Full refill(dry) 5.9 Qts.

if your water/antifreeze gets to hot it pushes out the over flow tube into the overflow container, as it cools down it will suck it out of the overflow and back into the radiator.
