Have to get it a the dealership... think it runs about $25.00. They may have to program it... just look on your key does it have a + sign on the metal upper part near the plastic? If so then it needs to be cut and programmed by the dealership. Thanks,
Wes
i have a 06 Chevy cobalt and can't get the key out of the ignition switch
The ignition on a Chevrolet Cobalt will not turn with the key if it is does not correct align inside. This will block the cylinder from turning and prevent starting.
With the correct key.
Most likely the anti-theft device at work. Try turning the steering wheel slightly then try turning the key.
Yes
I have 2008 and had same problem the ignition had to be replaced was really fast less than an hour they did it.
If the battery is dead it will not allow the key to return to locked position. Thus trapping you key in the ignition.
Use you key to open the lock.
To reset the security system on a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, first, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the "On" position without starting the engine. Leave it in this position for about 10 minutes until the security light on the dashboard turns off. After that, turn the ignition off, wait a few seconds, and then start the engine. If the security light continues to stay on or blinks, you may need to consult a professional for further assistance.
Yes, the 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt typically comes equipped with a transponder chip in the key for security purposes. This chip is programmed to communicate with the car's ignition system, allowing the engine to start only if the correct key is used.
Slightly turn the steering wheel and it should let you turn the key to on position
No. The anti theft is in the ignition not the key for that vehicle.
