The first significant modifications to the Chevrolet Camaro were made by Don Yenko, a well-known car dealer and racer, who began offering his modified versions in 1967. Yenko's cars, known as Yenko Camaros, featured performance upgrades and a more powerful engine. While COPO (Central Office Production Order) also played a role in the Camaro's performance modifications, particularly with the introduction of the COPO 9560 package, Yenko's modifications are often recognized as the first notable enhancements to the Camaro.

Yes. Yenko was not the only one that made those cars, by the way. Baldwin Motion, and Nicky, were two more less popular than Don Yenko. The factory even made faster versions not available to the public, called COPO's. Central Office Production Order. You had to know someone to get one of these. Camaro's are the only COPO's that I know of, however, they may have made Chevelles. In 70, they offered a LS6, and LS7, version, with an aluminum 454. That car ran right in the 10's, off the showroom floor. I knew a guy that had one.
