Good question. My 4 cyl Ford Ranger has 8 plugs so I checked out why-- the answer is, the second set has nothing to do with how the engine runs, it is there to burn more of the excessive gasses so less are dumped out and cleans up emissions. :>) Regards, Fullait
In a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada, the spark plugs are located on the engine's cylinder heads. To access them, you'll need to remove the engine cover and possibly the ignition coils, which are mounted on top of the spark plugs. The engine is a 4.2L inline-six, so the spark plugs are positioned along the sides of the engine, typically requiring some maneuvering to reach.
The number of spark plugs in a Volvo S60 depends on the engine configuration. Most models with a four-cylinder engine typically have four spark plugs, while six-cylinder versions can have six spark plugs. Additionally, some turbocharged models may have variations, so it's best to check the specific engine type for accurate information.
The number of spark plug in a 4-cylinder engine depends on the type of engine you have. Some engines only have four spark plugs on the intake side for the ignition of the fuel. Other engines have eight spark plugs, four on the intake side to ignite the fuel and four on the exhaust side to ignite the exhaust fumes.
Attached to the engine!! If the engine is transverse mounted, some may be in front and the others closer to the firewall. If the engine is mounted inline, the plugs will be on the left and right sides of the motor.
No With some exceptions in the 1950's and before. Some early diesels started on gasoline with spark plugs and then switched to diesel when the engine was warmeed up.
Some Volkswagen models actually came with a diesel engine. Others have spark plugs located under the distributor cap. Once the distributor cap is removed replace the spark plugs one by one as to not get them crossed.
Mine were in the glove compartment, in a box labelled "spare spark plugs". (Have you checked there?) There may be some others in the engine compartment, but I couldn't find them on my diesel version.
No, some parts do not work well if oiled, e.g. spark plugs in a petrol engine.
On a 1996 Isuzu Trooper, the spark plugs are located on the engine cylinder head. Depending on the engine configuration, they can typically be accessed by removing the engine cover and any necessary components that may obstruct access. For the 3.2L V6 engine, the spark plugs are situated on either side of the engine, requiring some maneuvering to reach them. Always refer to the vehicle's service manual for specific details and instructions.
It depends on what engine you have. On some you have to remove the housing on the top of the engine which contains the coils etc.
Spark Plug RemovalAs far as the plugs are concerned, it doesn't matterwhether the engine is hot, warm, or cold. However, from the standpoint of safety and comfort of the person removing and replacing the plugs, it is best to do when the engine is cold.Working on a hot engine can result is some nasty thermal burns to your fingers, hands, and forearms!!!!!
Depending on the model some 1998 models have glow plugs like a diesel engine you may want to look into that before you waste time and money on spark plugs. On the 4 cy. engine, the spark plugs are accessible from the top of your engine. There is a face plate on the top of the engine held on with four screws, pull this plate off and you'll see the plugs. This confused me for a while too, as I was looking on the front and rear sides of the engine.
