The grinding could be coming from the rear brakes.
Check the lug nuts
Maybe never,But if you let your brake pads wear out to where the brakes are grinding,You may have to.
all cars with abs breaks do this!! but if you feel it in the pedal then you have bad front rotors!!
if you are driving and you go to stop, then that means that the front rotors are warped. if the front rotors are bad, you will feel a pulsation in pedal while applying brakes. change rotors on front.
Sometimes you can have a a pulsation while the brakes are adjusting after you have turned the rotors. You could wait a couple days and see if it corrects itself.
I know on Jeeps they use a soft rotor supposedly to quiet the brakes. The average mileage for their rotors is supposed to be around 13,000. I changed my rotors and have not had this problem since and I'm going on 30,000.
yes i have a 2003 and every 10,000 miles they are totally warped and i have heard that they have the same problems on other Malibu
It depends on your driving style and the condition of the calipers. If you ride the brakes or otherwise drive in such a manner as to cause the brakes to overheat, the rotors will warp prematurely. If you are constantly in stop-and-go driving conditions you will wear out the brake pads and rotors much faster than someone who drives greater distances and seldom uses the brakes. I've seen some people who get little more than 20,000 miles from brakes and/or rotors. My last brake pads and rotors had over 70,000 miles when I changed them, but then, we drive long distances here.
Have the front rotors turned on a lathe at a dealership. check brakes and rotors
I had the front brake pads and rotors changed on my 2008 Corolla LE and was charged $275.00
It is likely not the brakes. It sounds more like underinflated/bad tires. It could also be a bad wheel bearing. If it turns out to be the brakes, you would repair it by replacing the pads and having the rotors turned by a machine shop.
the only other parts you might check when you have it pulled apart, are the wheel bearings.the bearings etc are in the rotors but do not come with them when you buy rotors.if you are not careful you will trach the bearing races and seal on the back side of rotors when trying to remove them to install in new rotors
