I purchased a 1997 Ford Taurus on July 15, 2008. Drove it home. The next day everything was going fine until I stopped at a traffic light, When I pushed the gas pedal, it was just as if I had the gearshift in neutral. I pulled the gearshift all the way down into low(1), same reaction, like it was in neutral. I put it in reverse and it started to back up. Then I put it in drive and off we go. It worked, but this was just the beginning of two more puzzling incidents. I feel if I can get the right answer to the 1st problem it wll also be the solution to the next two things that happened.
Something is wrong in the 94 Taurus reverse light circuit. There is probably a short causing the battery voltage to drop when the car is in reverse.
It probably has something to do with the switch.
Low transmission fluid will make a car act like this. Check the transmission fluid and fill to the full line.
The way that you change a high mount brake light on a 2007 Taurus is by first prying the light assembly from the housing. You then push rearward to remove it from the retaining clips. Next, life the light assembly from the shelf and disconnect the assembly wiring. Replace the light assembly and reverse directions to put the light housing back where it goes.

You have to get the engine looked at.
have you car checked out at a transmission shop.
you open up your trunk and thir are 3 knobs behind the light, then take those out then you could pull the tail light out and put your new one in then do the reverse process over again
Came up to a stop light and when the light changed the car would not move.
its underneath the car plugged into the gearbox at the side of the nearside drive shaft. mine is blue
