Engine overheating will cause the anti-freeze to surge into the overflow tank. A blown head gasket will also cause the anti-freeze to surge into the overflow tank.
Fusible links are found throughout the engine compartment on a 98 Chevy Suburban 5.7 L. They provide the first line of defense to prevent electrical components from being damaged from a surge.
When running the air conditioner, there might be a small leak of fluid on the 2000 Alero after it is parked. This is normal as it is only the overflow valve being released. Always check the antifreeze level before operating the vehicle in the summer to prevent low antifreeze warnings.
The surge tank is located on the passenger's side of the engine compartment. There is probably a sticker that reads "Use DexaCool Coolant Only."
You can put anti-freeze into the search tank of your Chevy Cavalier. Newer Chevy Cavaliers have a sealed radiator and the search tank is the only place you can put anti-freeze into the system.
Storm Surge
EGR VALVE IS LOCATED NEXT TO THE TOP RADIATOR HOSE AT THE ENGINE, IT CAN CAUSE ENGINE TO MISS, STALL AND SURGE.
Need to check the EGR valve.
On the bottom of the overflow / surge tank (passenger-side fender)
trottle control module
a vacuum leak.
Rotors are out of round,need to have them turned.
The most common cause of that is a bad EGR Valve.
