I'm not sure what you mean by breaking, but i have a 95 cavalier, and sometimes, if the trunk release is not all the way down, the trunk lid will bounce back up....i just push it down and the trunk shuts easially every time
hope this helps
Most likely.
On a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier, the trunk latch is typically located inside the vehicle, near the driver's side door. You can find a release lever or button on the lower part of the dashboard or on the driver's side door panel. Additionally, there may be a keyhole on the trunk itself for manual access. If you're having trouble, consulting the owner's manual can provide more specific details.
The trunk latch on a 2002 Chevy Cavalier is typically a metal mechanism located at the rear of the trunk compartment. It features a hook or catch design that secures the trunk lid when closed. The latch is usually operated by a release lever inside the vehicle or by using the key fob. It may also have a plastic cover or housing that blends with the trunk's interior.
* Remove the trunk lid latch * Detach the lock release box from the latch assembly * To detach the lock cylinder from the trunk lid pry off the retainer
there is a cable that runs from the trunk release lever to the latch inside the trunk. you should be able to disconnect it from the latch inside the trunk
To open the trunk of a 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier from the inside, locate the trunk release lever, which is typically found near the driver's seat or on the floor next to the driver's side door. If the lever is not accessible or malfunctioning, you may need to fold down the rear seats (if equipped) to reach the trunk and manually release the latch. If the seats cannot be folded down, consider using a slim tool to reach the trunk latch through the rear seat area. Always ensure the vehicle is safely parked and powered off before attempting these actions.
This is the solution for a 2004 model: In the trunk on the top there are two straps that look like they go on a back pack. You need to pull those down and it undoes a latch on the back of the seats.
Approximately 85 percent of the parts of the 1998 Chevrolet Cavalier and the 1998 Pontiac sun fire are interchangeable. Most of the parts that are not interchangeable are in the passenger compartment.
Take the back seat out and climb thru and turn the rod going thru the latch.
Go thru the back seat and remove the 2 bolts that mount the latch ,or, pop off the black cable end from the trunk lock and turn it
To replace the trunk release cable on a Chevy Cavalier, first, remove the interior panel of the trunk area to access the cable mechanism. Disconnect the old cable from the latch and the release handle. Install the new cable by securing it to the latch and reattaching the release handle, then test the operation before replacing the interior panel. Finally, ensure all components are properly secured and the panel is reinstalled.
you probably broke the little piece of plistic in the black box the actual opens the latch. This could have been done by slaamming the trunk. I have the same problem. I super glued it once and then broke it again when my heavy bike rack was on the trunk.
