Replace your thermostat had same problem it sets a code but no check engine light
You most likely have a bad or dirty connection at the sensor.
turn the parking lights on and off 3 times

try turning key on (don't start) then pump gas to floor 6 times, light should flash then go out (works with many chevy's, but not sure about Impala)
With the key turned on ( not started ), click your parking lights on 3 times
On my 03 all I had to do was turn the key on and press the gas pedal all the way down 3 times for 5 seconds.
To reset the oil change light on a 2004 Chevy Impala, turn the ignition to the "On" position without starting the engine. Press the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. The light should turn off, indicating that the reset is complete. If it doesn't turn off, repeat the process.
With engine off. Turn key to on. Press accelerator fully three times. This should reset light.
i work at a Chevy dealership and have seen this many times. 1 of ur frt drive axle shafts is bad. raise vehicle and u can usually grab axle shaft and move which 1 is bad
Could be a bad oil sending unit - try a mechanical gauge to get an accurate reading
Could be a faulty thermostat or maybe just low on coolant.
