Could be your idle valve
Most '86 Caprice engines were fitted with a four barrel carb which requires occasional adjustment to keep idle at reasonable speed.
A 1995 Caprice idling high then low could be caused by several issues, such as a vacuum leak, a malfunctioning idle air control (IAC) valve, or problems with the throttle position sensor (TPS). Additionally, dirty or failing fuel injectors and a clogged air filter may contribute to erratic idling. It's important to diagnose the specific cause, as addressing the underlying issue will help stabilize the idle. Consider checking for any stored trouble codes with an OBD-I scanner to help identify the problem.
You may have leak in the intake
You do not adjust the Idle Air Control as it is controlled by the computor.
The idle air control valve is located on the side of the throttle body. It is non adjustable.
have lost my idle on a 1995 mitsubishi--what is the problem
You don't. The ecm adjusts it.
It is possible that a 1989 Caprice will stall when turning a corner if the idle is not turned up high enough on the carburetor. It is also possible that the flow of gas is disrupted by a loose fuel pump when the vehicle turns a corner.
There are a number of reasons why a 1991 Toyota Corolla engine would stop running after startup. It could the idle control, an EGR leak, or low fuel pressure.Ê
The 1995 Ford Aspire would have a rough idle cut off of power at high speeds due to mis firing. There is also a rev limiter to control how fast you can go.
To adjust the idle on Mazda 929 from 1992-1995.......on the top side off throttle body there is a idle air screw, turn screw cloclwise to reduce RPM. Question...is idle always high when hot or cold?
