Yes
A failed ECM can certainly keep an engine from starting, but it probably won't be responsible for overheating.
A check engine light, poor performance and in some cases no start.
The cps other wise know as crank position sensor shows the ecm that the engine is turning over and then the ecm turns on the spark and the fuel to allow the car to start. If the cps is bad the ecm won't see the engine turning over so in turn it won't allow fuel our spark.
Yes. A bad or failing temp sensor prevents the ECM from monitoring, and adjusting for, the engine temperature.
bad fuel pump, bad ignition, ecm wires removed, clutch safety switch, about a million things -berettaspeed15 bad fuel pump, bad ignition, ecm wires removed, clutch safety switch, about a million things -berettaspeed15
Symptoms of a bad ECM (Engine Control Module) on a 2006 CTS 3.6L V6 can include poor engine performance, such as rough idling or stalling. You may also experience issues with acceleration, erratic fuel consumption, and warning lights on the dashboard, particularly the check engine light. Additionally, the vehicle may exhibit difficulty starting or may not start at all. Diagnostics should be conducted to confirm ECM issues, as other components can cause similar symptoms.
If the computer, aka Engine Control Module (ECM) had a major melt down the engine would not start or run. Different functions of the ECM could fail and the engine may continue to run and the check engine light would illuminate. It is seldom the ECM is at fault.
Number of possibilities.. bad batteries, bad starter, faulty connector the starter, bad ECM, faulty connection to the ECM. Can't narrow it down without knowing more details.
Check the ECM Electronic Control Module, under the distributor cap If its bad sometimes it wont start or it will and then die
Possible bad ECM.
There could be any number of problems causing a no start condition. No fuel, no spark, bad timing, clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, ECM bad, ECM fuse bad, Ignition fuse bad.... Too many to list.
