NO it will not.
The neutral safety switch is a switch that essentially disables the ability to start the vehicle if its not in park or neutral (or in the case of a standard, if the clutch is not fully depressed). It is as the name implies, a safety feature, to prevent you from trying to start the vehicle while it is in gear (which would cause it to lurch forward.
No a neutral safety switch allows your car to come out of park.
What does the neutral safety switch cause. Does it cause serious hesitation or what make the car want to stop or what because that is what my car is doing . And I'm told that this switch is the problem.
i there a switch on a saturn that would cause it not to start Yes the neutral safety switch.
No your car just wont come out of park.
try the neutral safety switch
Two different switches, two locations. 1. The Neutral Safety Switch prevents the shift leaver from been moved out of park unless the ignition is on and the break peddle is applied. On 1991 it is located inside the plastic counsel below the shift handle. Failure of this switch may cause your vehicle not to start. 2. Not to be confused with the above is the Neutral/Reverse switch. One of its functions are to activate the reverse lights. It is located at the end of the shift cable on the transmission (1991 AUTO) facing the rad. MC
it can be a simple problem as coroded batery cables/terminals and or a loose conecion at the starter.even a bad ground could cause that problem. another common cause is a misaligned or faulty neutral safety switch. try putting your vehicle on neutral and try starting it then.
ignition switch i promise
try the neutral safety switch
The neutral safety start switch is there the protection of you and others. It serves to prevent the car from lunging forward when you start it. Disabling it will cause more damage to the car, and more cost to you than just replacing the switch. Think of it this way, is the cost of replacing the switch worth less or more than the starter you will have to replace earlier because you forgot to push in the clutch while starting the vehicle????? Not to mention the vehicle, person or other you damage when you forget to push in the clutch pedal????????? Basically,,,, Just replace the switch.... safety features are there for a reason..... Yes, it's most likely the neutral safety switch, but you can probably adjust it rather than replace it. Most newer vehicles can be adjusted. Be sure to test after adjusting so that it will only start in Park and Neutral. Pretty easy job in most vehicles unless you need to get on your back in the snow, but you can always wiggle the shifter until spring arrives. My wife has been wiggling for about six months, and she's ready to whack me. Maybe I should adjust that thing this weekend, ya think? Women!
Check for loose or corroded battery cables Bad starter solenoid? Bad starter? Seized engine? Bad neutral safety or clutch safety switch? Ignition Switch?
