Unless you are over heating probably not. A bad fan clutch will make a light roaring sound when you are driving because it is pulling a greater amount of air across the fan shroud but it is not likely to cause your engine to run rough. There are several things that can cause your engine to run rough but most likely it is something electrical. Bad spark plugs, bad wires, bad distributor cap or rotor. If it has been more than 100,000 miles since a major tune up all of these things are possible problems. If you have had a tune up more recently any one of them may have broken down and need replacement. That is where I would start looking. Good luck to you
I disagreeI have seen fan clutches so bad that they caused a vibration through the whole van, then they fail catastrophically and destroy the fan, radiator and water pump.replace timing chain
if 1st 4rd and 5th and reverse do fine, it would have to be in the transmission. clutch problems are noticable in all gears.
yes i could make it run rough. not getting the right air fuel mixture will cause a car to run badly.also check the timing to see if it is off.may need to replace timing belt or chain and gears.
I would suggest a new set of plug wires.
e.g.r. valve replacement fixed mine. symptoms where rough idle and "surged".
Symptoms of a bad camshaft position sensor in a 2000 Chevy Astro can include poor engine performance, such as misfiring, rough idling, or stalling. You may also notice decreased fuel efficiency and difficulty starting the engine. Additionally, the check engine light may illuminate, and diagnostic trouble codes related to the camshaft position sensor may be triggered.

Because it is a ford, buy a Chevy
A corroded distributor cap and rotor will cause a vehicle to be difficult if not impossible to start and may cause the motor to run rough. If a manual transmission is jerky the clutch slave cylinder or clutch may need replacing ( clutch slipping ). It would also do to check the clutch lines for leaking fluid.
vacuum leak?
Check your spark plugs or have your transmission checked. Could be a clutch problem if it's manual.
you most likely need an alignment or your tires just need to be balanced
