Sounds like no fuel is getting to the cumbustion chamber. Try replacing the fuel filter first as this would be the easiest and least expensive step; next if that doesn't work replace the fuel pump.

New Answer HeadlineI also had that same problem with my 1991 Chevy k1500. It turned out that the water temp sesor needed replaced. I suggest pluging in a code reader to find out the problem. For your year i belive an OB-1 reader would only cost $25 to $30.
