Why do you have antifreeze on the floor of your car?

You have a leaking heater core. You might smell antifreeze if you turn on the defroster.

Is the heater coil going bad on my 2001 ford f 150 if I smell antifreeze coming through the air vents if I turn the air controller to off I do not get the smell anymore?

More than likely the heater core is leaking.

Why do you smell antifreeze in the cab of your Subaru?

Antifreeze is used to heat the cab of your vehicle. When you turn on your heat in your cab, it opens up a valve that allows the hot antifreeze to flow from the radiator into the heater core. If there is a leak in the rubber tubes that flow into the heater core, or if the heatercore is damaged, you will smell the antifreeze in the cab of the vehicle. You may need new hoses to the heater core and/or a new heater core.

Why do you smell antifreeze when you turn on the air conditioner?

If the heater has a sweet smell it could be that the heater core is leaking engine coolant. When the leak gets worse you will have a wet floor on the passenger side and the windshield will fog up when you turn on the defroster.

Why do you get a heavy exhaust odor and film on windows when you turn on the heat in your '93 S10 pickup?

There is a very small leak in the heater core that is collecting in the vent system and is evaporating out when you turn the heater on. The smell is from the antifreeze in the water.

How do you troubleshoot jeep heater core?

Why do you smell antifreeze when you turn your car off?

A small amount of antifreeze smell may be emitted from the radiator overflow. However if you smell antifreeze you need to make sure there isn't a leak. It may be something simple if you catch it early.

I own a cheverlot s-10 blazer 1994 when the weather is cold an you turn on your defroster or heater your windows fog up an the windows fog up then i cant see please tell you the remedy for this?

Antifreeze fluid will cause your windows to fog. Might need a new heater coil. When the air is blowing it causes the fluid to mist. Therefor fogging your window. You should smell the "sweet" smell of antifreeze inside the car if the heater core is leaking. If your car has air conditioning also keep in mind a couple of things that could also cause this: 1. No freon in the air conditioning system. The AC runs above 32 deg. on defrost to help defrost the windows. 2. The condensation drain at the bottom of the Evaporator (AC) coil may be plugged and water is staying in the Air conditioning plastic case that surrounds the AC coil!!!

Why would antifreeze leak out of the heat ducts?

The heater core is cracked. You may also be smelling a sweet sort of smell when you turn on the heat and the car is running hot. That sweet smell comes from the anitfreeze when it burns. I have a 1998 ford Expedition and I smell antifreeze inside the truck. also antifreeze leaking around the passenger side of motor outside..... I can see a mist coming out of the ac vents.... could it be bad heater core and is it easy to fix or do you have step by step removal/installation instructions? please help Your heater core is probably cracked. There is alot of work to get to the core. You have to remove the front dash board.

Why do I smell antifreeze when I turn on the heater?

This is a classic tell-tale sign that the heater has a "blown" core. A new heater core is the only option, I think, and that runs to money because of the labor involved. If you live in a very warm climate, you can get by with simply bridging the "In" and "Out" heater hoses wit a connector made for the purpose. But if you need the heater at all in winter weather, the core must be replaced.

Why when you turn on the heater comes up a bad odor?

This is a result of dust and other debris that has accumulated on the coils or in the heater. When you turn it on, it begins to burn off and that is what you smell.

When you turn on the heat the floor and under the passenger seat is all wet is it the heater core?

AnswerYes, most likely. Cut the heater on hot and the fan to high. You should see water dripping or the air come out of the vents will be very moist. Also take a light and look for any wet marks, green streaks (anti-freeze) on any part of the heater coil. AnswerIf the fluid taste sweet, it is coolant, and more than likely, the heater core is leaking and needs replacing. If it is just water, then the A/C condenser drain line may be stopped up or your windshield is leaking. DO NOT TASTE ANTIFREEZE~!!!! It is poisonous. I think what the other answerer meant is that if it has a sweat smell, then it is probably antifreeze.
