On a 2004 Chevy Cavalier, the starter is located on the lower passenger side of the engine, near the transmission. It is mounted to the engine block and can be accessed from underneath the vehicle. To replace or service the starter, it's often necessary to raise the vehicle for better access.
id say an hour
Well I have just gotten over this problem in my cavalier recently so my advice is to look at the engine at night time in dim light where the starter is l;ocated. If you see smoke or a spark on cables around the starter that is most likely the problem. If a new starter wont fix it then a new battery is my next guess. The starter for a 1998 Cavalier is mounted on the side of the engine. It is at the rear, near the bottom.
Replacing the starter on a 1991 Chevrolet Cavalier can be difficult for someone who has never worked on cars. The car first needs to be jacked up so that the starter can be reached. Then the wires will need to be taken off the starter and labeled so that they can be placed back on the new starter. The start will then then be taken off by removing the bolts. After the bolts are removed, the starter can be taken off and replaced.
