no because in the 1700's around the dlecaration of independence the colonists wanted independence but the patriots didn't so they had war and if you check the defenitions of the two words seperately you would find out they are not the same they were involved in the same war time but they are not the same

∙ 13y agoNo, they are not. Pilgrims are people who visit another place for religious reasons. Colonists are people who colonize an area by creating and inhabiting a settlement. The Mayfower Pilgrims were also colonists because they came to America to escape religious persicution in England and they colonized the area in which they landed.
"Patriots" was the name given to the Colonists who fought for independence. Loyalists aka. "Tories", were those Colonists who remained "loyal" to King George III i.e. England.
