From the perspective of an average citizen, I feel that my responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obeying the laws to the best of my ability, respecting my neighbors and their property, doing my part to keep my community clean and safe, voting in elections after doing appropriate research on issues and candidates, supporting efforts of community actions that I am in agreement with, where possible supporting my local or state business and industries, and taking responsibility for my actions and commitments.

When George Washington became the first President of America, in his speech he said -" Ask not what America can do for you , but ask what you can do for America.! When we speak about the duties of citizens, the first requirement would be that every citizen should know that he is the citizen and the son of his country and that he has a motherland to love, to be loved and to serve and be served. "

A citizen should know the fundamental nature and the character of his country. He should be aware of his geographical territory, its resources and its scarcities. One should know his natural, cultural economic humane and commercial resources.

A citizens should be conscious of their sense of patriotism but avoid fundamentalism which leads to antagonism and hostility. All should stand for national interest and must not betray the interior secrets to foreigners and spies.

All citizens should enjoy the fundamental rights and perform their duties with commitment and honesty. They must always abide by the constitution. They must respect and revere their National ideals , National Flag and the National Anthem; They must cherish in their life to follow the noble ideals of their great national leaders and patriots. They must protect their nation's sovereignty, unity and integrity . They must defend the country and render national service when called upon to do so, they must be the brave comrades and be ready to die for the nation.

The citizens should cultivate common brotherhood without any discrimination for their region or language. They must transcend from religious, linguistic and regional or sectional diversities; to renounce practices derogatory to the dignity of women. They must preserve the rich heritage of their composite culture. They must collaborate to improve and protect the natural environment including forests, lakes, rivers and wild life, and to have compassion for living creatures. They must try to cultivate a scientific approach , Humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform. They must respect and safeguard public property and to abjure violence. It should be their constant endeavor to try for growth and development in all spheres of individual and collective activity, so that the nation constantly rises to higher levels of endeavor and achievement.
