The US Constitution does not specifically address the environment in so many words. All laws which have been promulgated to protect the environment have been extrapolated from the (supposed) meanings the founding fathers included in the wording of the Constitution, or as it is currently amended.
It really cannot and could not afford the environment any protections under the Constitution unless a new amendment were created. The Constitution is designed to protect the citizens of the United States and to prevent both the Federal and State governments from infringing on those fundmental rights.
