Weapons and attics used during World War 1 affect a lot of number of deaths. I mean with the technology of tanks that were very harmful. Also machine guns that could fire fast and kill a lot of people. Also aircraft that dropped explosive stuff.
The Allies, easily. The number of military deaths on the part of the Soviet Union (8 million +) and China (3.8 million) were horrendous and account for the high overall numbers on the Allied side.

Tactics had not caught up with technology..The line up and shoot tactics of earlier wars were fought with smoothbore muskets, not extremely accurate weapons..At the time of the Civil War, muskets had rifled barrels which were far more accurate, resulting in higher casualties, because the old tactics were still in vogue.

Sources will claim numbers above and below (but mainly below this particular number) as no exact number is known. SecondWorldWar.co (UK) suggests just 15.12 million combat deaths, a difference of nearly 10 million.
