The executive branch has the power to veto bills that are passed by the legislative branch (the House of Representatives and the Senate). Likewise, the Senate is able to block that veto if there is a 2/3 majority.
The judicial branch's powers are largely limited to resolution of disputes and/or interpretation of law, including whether a given law is unconstitutional. Thus, the domaine of the courts is relatively small, to begin with. The courts, for example, cannot originate laws (as does the Congress), and has no power to enforce the laws, except by interpretation of them. The court relies on the executive to defer to those determinations and accept them as binding, and act accordingly. That is a critical element in the balance of powers, because the courts have no other means to enforce their interpretations than through the executive. If the executive branch is not satisfied with the determination of the court, it may issue new regulations consistent within the scope of the governing laws, or it may ask Congress (the legislative branch) for new legislation. Alternatively, the executive may seek to amend the constitution itself, by going to the Congress (getting a 2/3 vote in each house) and thereafter seeking ratification by 3/4 of the states.
So that one branch is not stronger than tthe other.
The executive branch limits the judicial branches powers by formulating policies and assenting the laws through the president The judiciary is only responsible for interpretation of the law.
Judicial review. The Supreme Court can overturn laws that are passed by congress and signed by the president.
