Chernobyl reached the entire world. It was an explosion due to a malfunction in the building design and the explosion pushed thousands upon thousands of thousands of radioactive material into the air. These chemicals mixed with water in the air and fell as acid rain, thus contaminating the water supply of Russia, Eastern Europe and Western Europe for several decades. Even now, Europe and the men who worked around Chernobyl to keep it safe are still feeling the effects of that tragedy.
As long as you want. I think the question you are trying to ask is "How long can you stay in Chernobyl without dying?".

By not doing that carelessly planned turbine rundown experiment immediately after shutdown of the reactor and postponing it until just before restartup would have been much safer. But there are dozens of other single things that could have also prevented.

As far as it is now.
About 616 miles to Moscow from Chernobyl.
About 988.8 KM :)
The school in Chernobyl, Pripyat, was located around 1.5 kilometers (0.93 miles) away from the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant reactor that exploded in 1986.
As far as i know, Only God knows. :)

Given the topic this question is listed under, I think you might be confusing Chernobyl with the bombings of the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of WWII. Chernobyl was a nuclear accident at a plant in the Ukraine which took place on April 26, 1986.
Chernobyl started from an inherently unstable design, it's considered a breeder reactor, really good at making weapons grade plutonium but functionally unstable. The actual incident occurred during testing of the reactor to see how far it could be pushed.
The contamination from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster spread across Europe and beyond, with varying levels of contamination detected in different regions. The most heavily affected areas were in Belarus, Ukraine, and Russia, but radioactive particles were detected as far away as Sweden and Scotland.
Yes, Chernobyl is a city.
