5 U.S.C.§ 5312 lists the positions that receive the amount of pay determined by Chapter 11 of Title 2 for Level I Executive Office positions. Since January 2017, the annual rate of pay for Level I is $207,800.

As of 2017 the Cabinet positions at Level 1 are:

Secretary of State

Secretary of the Treasury

Secretary of Defense

Attorney General

Secretary of the Interior

Secretary of Agriculture

Secretary of Commerce

Secretary of Labor

Secretary of Health and Human Services

Secretary of Housing and Urban Development

Secretary of Transportation

Secretary of Energy

Secretary of Education

Secretary of Veterans Affairs

Secretary of Homeland Security

Trade Representative

Director of National Intelligence

Office of Management and Budget

Administrator of the Small Business Administration

Level II- Since January 2017, the annual rate of pay for Level II is $187,000.

Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (cabinet level - but actually is subsidiary to the Department of Defense i.e. works for the Secretary of Defense)

Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (The EPA is not a Cabinetdepartment, but the Administrator is normally given cabinet rank.)

Level III- Since January 2017, the annual rate of pay for Level III is $172,100

Ambassador to the United Nations (cabinet level - but actually is subsidiary to the State Department, i.e. works for the Secretary of State)
