1) Tanks 2) Poison gas 3) Combat aircraft (armed scouts, fighters, and bombers including zeppelins) Although strongly associated with World War 1, machine guns and submarines were used in earlier wars. Airplanes were also used a little earlier, but they were unarmed.
There were many weapons that were introduced in WWI (much more than three). But some that really affected this new type of trench warfare were barbed wire, flamethrower, mounted machine guns, tanks, submarines, poison gases and airplanes.
Note that tanks did not effect the outcome of the war much as the allies and central powers did not know how to properly use them to their advantages. Airplanes could only be used to scout enemy troop movement and therefore suprise attacks were of no use. Submarines were used to restrict supplies of Allied troops (blockade) from the home front. Barbed wire was a major factor of trench warfare. It slowed down troop advances considerably and made it easier for soldiers to be mowed down by machine guns.
One was the early version of the airplane--some with motors, some as gliders.
