Sadly John Jay was never a President of the United States. but he did hold other distinguished titles for the US. He was formally educated as a lawyer and during the American Revolution he served in the First and Second Continental Congresses. He was President of the Continental Congress for almost 10 months and then was appointed as a diplomat to Spain where he obtained a loan from them after much convincing. He was also the second Secretary of Foreign Affairs from 1784-1789 and would become the second Governor of New York where he served six years. Although he was never our President of the United States, he did have a heavy hand in the formation and establishment of the US.
