Judicial
The judicial branch of government is the branch of government that grants reprieve or pardons. Reprieves are usually granted at the federal level of the court system.
Brazil's system of government is a presidential federal republic. The president as head of government and head of state is elected by popular vote. The National Congress [Congresso Nacional do Brasil] is the legislative branch, and the Supreme Federal Court [Supremo Tribunal Federal] is the judicial branch.
The delegates created a checks and balances system within the federal government so no one branch could become extremely powerful. Checks and balances is apart of the separation of powers of the federal government.
