Franklin D. Roosevelt

In 1946, the Mercury dime was replaced with the Roosevelt dime, partly to honor his efforts in the founding of The March of Dimes (originally named National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis).

On the Canadian dime there is the Blue-nose - a racing yatch that never lost a race. It fell on hard financial times and ended its day running Rum during the 1930's.
