The only real strategy used by the British Army was the line up and fire method, where a platoon of 30 - 40 men would form two rows in which the front would fire, and then the back would fire while the front reloaded, and then the front would fire while the black reloaded, due to the fact that the musket could take around 10 - 20 seconds to reload. This was easily countered by the Colonial Army, who used guerrilla tactics to counter the British forces.

The Americans used the sneak-attack strategy, knowing the British would not expect it. Before this strategy originated, the two sides would line up for battle on a scheduled time. It took the other side off guard and helped the Americans win the war.
