The Federalists believed in a strong central government, that the elite/ educated should lead, loose interpretation of the Constitution, a strong national bank, and control of shipping and manufacturing.
They were called Federalists.
The Federalists were strongest in the Northeast. John Adams, from Massachusetts and Alexander Hamilton from NY were two of their leaders. Their main opposition was Thomas Jefferson and his supporters from the South and the West.
The Federalists were the North. The Confederates were the South. Federalists were against slavery and the Confederates were for slavery. Confederates is against the federalists, or opposite the federalists. CONfederalists.
George Mason and Patrick Henry were 2 of the main ones. (Patrick Henry was the main leader). Thomas Jefferson and Elbridge Gerry were also antifederalists.

Federalists wanted to urge the Constitution to be in action, but the Anti-Federalists didn't want the Constitution to be in commencement. They were against it.
