Queen Anne Boleyn (c1501-07- 05/19/1536), Henry's second wife. She was beheaded at the Tower of London on 19th of may 1536. The unfortunate Anne was charged with incest, adultery and High Treason, despite unconvincing evidence. The charges against her were trumped by Thomas Cromwell (Henry's Chief Minister at the time) so that Henry could get her out of the way and be free to marry again. Poetic justice prevailed however - Thomas Cromwell was himself beheaded at the Tower of London on 28th July 1540. What goes around comes around... Anne had only one child, Elizabeth (Henry's second daughter) who went on to be one of the most powerful and influential monarchs in British history - Queen Elizabeth I. Ironically, we now know that the father is responsible for determining the sex of a child. Henry's difficulty in producing a male heir to the throne was his problem, not Anne's. Talk about unfair dismissal!
His first wife died due to poor health so he married a second time after 8 months.
