There is no gold or rubber in Europe. Rubber comes from tropical regions and that is one reason they wanted to colonize tropical countries. Gold was another reason for colonies and exploring. Spain found gold in the southwest of North America and Germany found gold as well as diamonds in South Africa. They had to go out of Europe to find these things.
The Distant Early Warning or DEW Line were radar stations in the Northern Arctic region. These radars were established during the Cold War to detect Soviet bombers.
Before its independence in 1964, Zambia was controlled by British colonial rule, specifically as part of the British South Africa Company’s territory. The region was known as Northern Rhodesia, and it was administered by British officials with significant economic interests in mining and agriculture.
