The Puritans were some of the earliest settlers in America. They influenced a great deal of things that we use today, they basically shaped our nation. The Puritans were the first people in America to introduce an early form of democracy. Also a Puritan named Roger Williams introduced separation of church and state. The Puritans are also responsible for our nations successful economy. They started the New England shipbuilding industry that is still prominent today. They also founded two of the best colleges in the country and among the best in the world, Harvard and Yale. This goes to show how important the Puritans were in the shaping of our nation.
