The Quartering Acts were one of the many causes of feelings of agitation towards the British government pre-revolution.
The dislike of quartering stuck with the Constitutional writers and is Amendment III in the Bill of Rights.
They were forced to by the British government. They were present in order to provide security for the colonists, and the British government didn't want to pay the cost of quartering the soldiers overseas, and did so at the direct expense and inconvenience of the colonists.
IT made them at times starve, from the troops eating their food. They would be forced to sleep on their own floors so the troops could sleep comfortable in a bed.

to take in a soldier and house and feed them, also they made them pay for there own defence
British Officers would knock upon the door of a home and then instruct the residents that they were to house and feed soldiers. The Quartering-Act was part of the intolerable acts which were made to punish the colonists for the Boston Tea Party. The ultimate reaction was to write a no-quartering act into the Bill of Rights.
The 3rd Amendment Deals with the Quartering of Troops
The Third Amendment of the Constitution forbids the quartering of troops. This means, troops can't be forcibly housed in private homes without the owner's permission. This amendment was created due to the British forcibly housing soldiers in private homes during the Revolutionary War.
The Quartering Act caused tension between the troops and the colonists. The colonists didn't want to have the troops invade their homes but the reason they were even their was to enforce the Townshend Act.
it made colonists accept british troops into their homes

The colonists did not react well tot he Quartering Act of 1765. They refused to provide British troops with shelter and food as they were told to do.
The Quartering Act of 1765 stated that the colonists would have to house the British troops. The colonists protested this act because they did not want these troops in their homes and they did not trust them.
Quartering act is about that all the British troops will get housing by colonists. the troops can live in any house they want. ad they don't have to pay for anything. they will get food, salt, and bedding for free.

The British were sending thousands of troops over to the colonies, and they needed somewhere to stay. It was cheaper to have the British live in the houses of the colonists, and King George could keep an eye on what they - the colonists - were doing.
