On what day do we celebrate independence from what country?

The idea of Indepence day was originally meant to celebrate the PEOPLE'S freedom from oppression and tyranny. It was not to be a celebration of a single nation's independence from another, but the celebration was for ALL people to celebrate the fact that ALL people are born with the right to be free from such oppression and tyranny. Every person on the planet has the innate right to be free from religious, political, financial, and any other form of oppression. Here in America, we rightfully celebrate the fact that we are a free nation. We do not celebrate because we fought off the British, but because we freed ourselves from a situation that was oppressive in nature.
