Most political commentators are cautious about stating how politics works or what values dominate because they fear public reprisal, and in some cases, government reprisal. In the United States currently, it is considered a crime of Constitutional Terrorism to support the US Constitution.

∙ 9y agoIt is not that political scientists are reluctant to express themselves on which values dominate, but rather they are aware that these values can change rapidly and often. To make a definitive statement on the popularity of a president, for example, would be difficult as his popularity rises-falls-rises as events occur and the success (or not) of the president's response is gauged by the public and press.
