Because he was the last King of France and the most philanthropy of all of his predecessors. He loved "his good people" too much, they did not love him back. He was too undecisive to succesfully reign his kingdom, he did not have enough power to do so. The French needed a strong king, someone that would lead them and find an answer to the financial crisis in the country.

Louis XVI was of the utmost importance to the history of the whole world, because he allowed the monarchy to become a republic, eventhough he did not agree with it. He only wanted "his good people" to be happy, and if this was what they wanted, Louis wanted them to have it and gave it.

Louis XIV was a model for what all true autocratic kings should be. Having put down attempted rebellions by the Parliament and the Aristocracy, Louis then took control away from the Chief Minister and ruled France by himself. In most other countries, kings depended on the nobility and the church for their power - but in France, Louis turned the all powerful nobles into courtiers. Louis then moved the royal court away from Paris - where the trouble was - to a new palace at Versailles which was the most opulent court in Europe. Louis also expanded the borders of France to become what is modern day France. Louis XIV also had the record for longest documented reign in Europe
