The electrical current triggers an action potential at the neuromuscular junction, causing the muscle cells to depolarize and contract.
1/2 of the words population of frogs are dead
A common Biology experiment performed in high school is in passing electricity through the legs of a dead frog. When that happens, the frog legs draw up. When the electricity is shut off, the legs extend back out. When the electricity is turned on off on off on...the legs appear to be kicking. If your dead body is not decomposed, electricity passing through it would likely cause the muscles to contract just like in a dead frog.

The experiments Dr. James Lind did on frogs highlighted the concept of galvanism - the use of electricity to stimulate muscle movement in dead organisms. This concept influenced Mary Shelley's creation of Victor Frankenstein, who uses electricity to animate his creature. Lind's experiments provided scientific inspiration for Shelley's exploration of the boundaries of life and death in the novel.
