When events we held in the Colosseum, they lasted all day and sometimes for several days. A show at the Colosseum was generally a three part production. In the mornings there were the animal hunts, around lunch time they held the public executions and in the afternoon, the gladiatorial combats. After the gladiators finished, gifts were thrown out to the crowd.

The term the foundation of Rome does not refer to the building of a city. It refers to the creation of the Roman city-state. It involved the unification of separate and independent settlements on what where to become the seven hills of Rome into a single state headed by a king. The earlier archaeological evidence of human settlement in the area of Rome goes back to some 500 years earlier than the creation of the Roman city-state.
