When the Greeks sacked Troy, they found Cassandra, daughter of King Priam of Troy, clinging to a statue in Athena's temple. Ajax the Lesser dragged her from the temple, and by some accounts raped her. Cassandra was then given to Agamemnon as a concubine. As punishment for defiling her temple and abusing her follower, Athena and Poseidon created huge storms that drove the Greek fleet off course, and killed Ajax.
In Greek mythology when Athena is the daughter of Zeus, Poseidon being the brother of Zeus, is her uncle. However, myths exist which make Poseidon the grandfather of Athena when she is the daughter of his son Triton, or Poseidon is the father of Athena when her mother is Tritonis or Polyphe.
well i don't have paragraph, but what the whole thing is about is Arachne compared her self to Athena and Athena got super angry (you don't compare your self to the god's) so Athena tried to warn Arachne by coming to earth as an old woman and told her not to compare her self to Athena. but Arachne refused and the old woman turned into Athena and they had a competition on who could make the most beautiful quilt and when Athena was done she went to look at Arachne's quilt and it shows horrible things about the god's so Athena turned Arachne into a spider. so that's why thing's are now called arachnophobia arachnids and so on.
Medusa was the high priestess of Athena. She was beautiful and was desired by many men. One day Poseidon, Lord of the sea and earthquakes, took Medusa into Athena's temple and raped her. Athena was furious, for being a priestess of Athena, she had to keep her maidenhood like the goddess. So to make sure this didn't happen again, Athena turned Medusa into a gorgon with snakes for hair and eyes that turn people to stone.
Athena made the olive tree for the city of Athens. In gratitude, they named the city after her.
Make offerings at her temple.

It was built as a temple to the patron goddess of Athens, Athena. She was also known as Athena Parthenos or Athena the maiden which is why its called the Parthenon. It was also built to celebrate a significant victory by Athens over the Persian army who had almost beaten the Athenian when they invaded Athens a few years before. Many Athenian buildings were destroyed by fire during the Persian war and the Athenian ruler Pericles launched a big programme of building to make the city beautiful.
Athena had children although they didn't make the history books. Athena herself sprouted out of Zeus's head in full Greek battle armor. All relationships with mortals are purely intellectual. So her children come out of Athena's head like her and Zeus. Minus the battle armor. :-D
A Greek Myth is a story about Greek Gods or heroes who do fantastical things to make the world we know and "love" today. Here's an example: There was a new Greek village, and they wanted to name it after a God. Athena (Goddess of wisdom) and Poseidon (God of the Seas) wanted the name. To win the event, Poseidon conjured up a horse (or a stream in other stories). Athena made an olive tree pop up out of nowhere. Athena won. The city is now what we all know as Athens.
The Greek Goddess Athena was a goddess of handicrafts. Athena-Ergane was a patron goddess of pottery. Egyptian god Khnum was another patron god of pottery There is also a patron SAINT of potters; Saint Spyridon.

Apollo and Athena are brother and sister - or at least half-brother. Apollo was born from one of Zeus' many adulteries (with Leto), Athena was born out of Zeus' head after he had swallowed Metis who was pregnant with his daughter. Also Athena is the goddess of wisdom, and Apollo the god of true prophecy - so they have a common interest. In many of the Greek myths Athena and Apollo are natural allies, ganging up as the two unruly kids annoyed by the conservatism and killjoy attitude of Zeus and Hera (father and stepmother). The Greek gods are remarkably like any other dysfunctional first family.
