`Poornathrayeesan' is the name of the diety in The temple of Thripunithura, in Ernakulam District, Kerala. The `thrayee' in Poornathrayeesan denotes the three vedas (Rig-veda, Yajur-veda and Sama-veda) used in the manthras. Thripunithura, where the temple is situated, is known in Sanskrit as `Poorna-veda-puri' . Most of the veda-pandithas or brahmins used to live here and it was also called `veda graamam'. The fourth veda (Atharva veda) is never a part of the manthras of yagyas and not considered. Substitute `thrayee' for veda and you get Poorna-thrayee-puri. And the deity or `eeshan' (God) of Thripunithura came to be known as `Poornathrayeesan'. SCD
