arachne was a maiden who said she was better than Athena at weaving. In return of showing hubris, Athena turned her into a spide.
Actually Arachne was a woman from Lydia who was taught weaving by Athena and thot she was to good to b tot from Athena so she denied being tauht by Athena, and the had a contest between Athena and arachne to c wo was the better weaver, neither won, but Athena destroyed arachnes weave and arachne was ashamed and hung herself and Athena felt bad so she saved her life but turned her into a spider.
Arachne
Arachne, Tantalus, Midas, Syssiphus....
No, Athena abused her power as a god and proved Arachne's point that gods are immoral, unjust, and abusive over their power. Athena accepted Arachne's offer to see who's the best weaver. Arachne won fair and square however, Athena did not like that and cursed Arachne out of spite.
She wasn't a greek god, just a mortal woman named Arachne with incredible weaving skills. She boasted that she was better than Athena, the goddess of the loom (and many other things). Athena herself came down to prove Arachne wrong. When Arachne was finished with her piece, Athena was actually kind of jealous. Naturally, she got angry and turned Arachne into the first spider. Ta-da!
well i don't have paragraph, but what the whole thing is about is Arachne compared her self to Athena and Athena got super angry (you don't compare your self to the god's) so Athena tried to warn Arachne by coming to earth as an old woman and told her not to compare her self to Athena. but Arachne refused and the old woman turned into Athena and they had a competition on who could make the most beautiful quilt and when Athena was done she went to look at Arachne's quilt and it shows horrible things about the god's so Athena turned Arachne into a spider. so that's why thing's are now called arachnophobia arachnids and so on.

Athena is the better weaver, but only because she is a god. If Athena had been mortal, (human), Arachne would have probably won the weave-off that the two had.
non but a spider-web is most associated with Athena
